Secondary at TGS is where everything comes together. The curiosity, the competencies, the bilingualism, the habits of mind built through Early Years and Primary. At Secondary, students are ready to direct all of it. The programme is designed accordingly: rigorous, individualised, and oriented toward the real world from the first day.
Secondary at TGS unfolds across three stages, each building on the last.

Students deepen their core subject knowledge across three distinct learning blocks: Creativity (Language Arts and Arts), Discovery (Mathematics and Sciences), and Global Studies (History, Geography, and Civics), while developing independent learning habits through Studio Time and Genius Hour.
Students begin working toward the Global Impact Diploma, an internationally collaborative credential centred on innovation and impact, and complete an AP Seminar course, the first step in the College Board AP Capstone pathway.
By this stage, students operate with high levels of autonomy, engaging in complex projects, internships, and individual learning pathways that prepare them for life beyond school, emerging as TGS changemakers ready to lead with purpose, apply their learning in meaningful contexts, and create impact in the world.
TGS Secondary graduation is not a single exam, but a body of evidence accumulated over time that demonstrates a student's readiness for what comes next. Students graduate with an accredited high school diploma underpinned by Uruguay's national authority, alongside the Global Impact Diploma, an international credential centred on collaboration, leadership, and innovation for impact, with the option to pursue the College Board AP Capstone Diploma.
Graduation reflects both academic mastery and real-world readiness: students complete core academic subjects alongside a personal project, entrepreneurship and leadership courses, an internship experience, and the AP Seminar and Research courses. The result is a graduate who is prepared to lead with purpose in a complex world.
TGS Secondary is designed to open doors, not to prescribe which door a graduate walks through. The credentials, competencies, and real-world experience students build across Bosque, Río, and Sierra prepare them equally for university admission, entrepreneurial ventures, or direct entry into professional life. The Changemaker project and internship requirements exist precisely because we believe learning that doesn't connect to the world beyond school is incomplete.
TGS's first cohort of Secondary graduates will complete their journey in 2029. Families with questions about pathways, credentials, and what comes next are encouraged to speak directly with our team — this is a conversation we welcome at any stage of the admissions process.

Secondary students will be housed in the new Secondary building — designed by Rosan Bosch Studio, built by Enkel, and due to open in February 2027. The building includes a Science Lab, Atelier, Makerspace, Pattern and Problem Lab, Debate Forum, Language and Literature Studio, Global Studies Studio, Systems Thinking Lab, and a Sunrise Lounge at its heart.
As a school, we designed Secondary from the ground up in the same spirit, and with the same seriousness, as everything that came before it.

“I strongly believe it is a truly unique institution. Its teaching fosters a genuine eagerness to learn. The leadership is passionate about the project, and that passion is reflected in the students’ response. Going to school has never been so exciting.”
